TO ANCHOR NeSMITH CHEVROLET WRS IN
INDIANA
CARTERSVILLE, GA – Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN will
anchor the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series in the Hoosier State
beginning on April 26, as the series will sanction the track’s Late
Model Division for 13 weeks of competition on the 1/4-mile dirt oval.
Drivers in the Division will compete for both track and series
Regional point fund money.

has stepped forward to sponsor the new Division, which will be called
the GMR Late Model Division. Group
Metal Recyclers recycles automotive catalytic converters.
Included in the 13 weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing
Series GMR Late Model Division action in 2008 at Brownstown Speedway
will be six double point events that will represent a total of 19
races that will count towards the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing
Series East Region points, with a driver’s best 16 finishes counting
towards their Regional point total..
“From the response I’ve had from the dirt late model
drivers in the area, the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series and
the economical GM Performance Crate Engine concept they bring is the
future of dirt late model racing, and the time is right to bring them
into Brownstown Speedway,” Brownstown Speedway Promoter Tim Keithley
said. “The NeSmith
Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series brings a good Regional program with
good tech and public relations support, and we’re looking forward to
working with them to help this series grow in
Indiana
.”
The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series is excited to have
Keithley, Brownstown Speedway, and its competitors involved with the
expansion of the East Region.

Brownstown Speedway will join Talladega
Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, Penton Raceway in Penton, AL, Green
Valley Speedway in Glencoe, AL, Chattahoochee Valley Motor Speedway in
Dothan, AL, East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL, and Fort
Payne Motor Speedway in Fort Payne, AL in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly
Racing Series East Region.
Under the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series sanction,
drivers in the GMR late Model Division at Brownstown Speedway will be
eligible not only to compete for a Track point fund, but also a
Regional point fund using their 16 best finishes during the NeSmith
Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series 2008 season that runs through at least
October 12, 2008.
“We have decided to extend the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly
Racing Series at least another two weeks from what we originally
announced due to a high number of rainouts during the first three
weeks of the season,” NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series
Director Roby Helm said. “We
may go even further into October, depending on the weather in the next
few weeks.”
In addition, the top six drivers in the Brownstown Speedway GMR
Late Model Division point standings, excluding any top six Regional
point drivers, will be invited to the 3rd Annual Crate
Racin’ USA Fall Nationals Invitational Race at Columbus Speedway in
Columbus, MS on November 28, 2008.
The Brownstown Speedway GMR Late Model
Champion will also be eligible to compete in the Race of Champions,
and top six Regional point drivers will compete in the Race of Regions
during the Fall Nationals in Columbus, MS.
The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Regional Champions
will receive a new GM Performance 604 Crate Engine, and a new dirt
late model chassis.
The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series and the Weekly
Racing Series feature dirt late models powered by the economical GM
Performance Crate Engine that are built and sealed at the GM factory
to prevent any expensive modifications, and are shipped and made
available at GM dealers nationwide.
The 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine can be purchased
for right at $5,000, and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine can
be purchased for right at $3,000.
The GM Performance 602 Crate Engine also receives a 150-pound
weight break and a one inch larger carburetor spacer over the 604
engine.
