BLAIR SWEEPS TO THE POLE FOR STORMPAY.COM PIKE COUNTY SPEEDWAY RACE

McCOMB, MS – Jay Blair of Angie, LA earned the pole position for the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series 75-lap $5,000-to-win main event on Saturday night at Pike County Speedway . Blair set fast time on Friday during time trials, and then won the first ten-lap heat race in the Parrish Disposal/B&K Motorsports Mastersbilt to earn the inside front row starting spot for the big show.

The defending StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Champion, and defending race winner David Gentry of Lewisburg, TN won the second ten-lap heat race on Friday night driving the Dixon Plumbing Mastersbilt to earn the outside front row starting spot for the main event on Saturday night.

Chip Brindle of Chatsworth, GA drove the Brindle Brothers Auto Parts GRT to the win in the third ten-lap heat to earn the inside second row starting spot, and StormPay.com DLMS point leader Frank Ingram of Woodstock, GA won the fourth ten-lap heat race to take the outside second row starting spot in the Universal Concrete Rocket.

Blair opened up the evening by out-timing the 34-car field with a lap around the 3/8-mile clay oval in 17.769 seconds. That gave Blair the pole position for the first heat race, and after battling side-by-side with William Thomas of Phenix City, AL in the opening laps, pulled away late to post the win.

The top four finishers in each of the four heat races on Friday night transferred into Saturday night’s 75-lap main event in the first 16 starting spots.

Joining Blair out of the first heat in the “Sweet 16” were Blair’s protégé Kody Barber of Bogalusa, LA in the Magic City Lawn Care GRT, Thomas in the J.W. Miller Land & Timber Scorpion, and Kevin Watts of Denham Springs, LA in the Truck & Equipment Warrior.

Derrick Rainey of Powder Springs, GA in the Dixon Hauling and Grading Rocket, Rusty Hoge of Ooltewah, TN in the H&H Powersports GRT, and Anthony Rushing of Kosciusko, MS in the American Race Tires Rocket finished second through fourth respectively behind Gentry in the second heat race to transfer to the big show.

Moving into the main event from the third heat race behind Brindle were Danny Joe Thomas of Robertsdale, AL in the Bayou Express Trucking Mastersbilt, Jeff Fields of Aragon, GA in the Summerville Junkyard Mastersbilt, and National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Inductee Jerry Inmon of Bruce, MS in the Gary Washington GRT.

The top four going to the big show from the fourth heat were Ingram, Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS in the NeSmith Chevrolet Mastersbilt, Richard Guidry of Port Allen, LA in the Tony’s Custom Carburetors Barry Wright, and Bill Flowers of Bremen, GA in the Dixon Hauling and Grading Rocket.

Drivers that finished fifth on back in the four heat races on Friday night will have one last opportunity to fill in starting positions 17 through 24 on Saturday night through one of two 12-lap B-Main races. The top three finishers in each B-Main will fill in starting spots 17 through 22, while the 23^rd and 24^th starting spots are StormPay.com DLMS Top 15 Point Provisional starting spots.

There are four StormPay.com DLMS Top 15 point drivers still on the outside looking in, and they are eighth-place Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA, ninth-place Chris Tays of Corinth, MS, tenth-place Robert Stutts of Murfreesboro, TN, and 11^th-place Jim Till of Greenville, AL. All four drivers start in the top three starting spots of their respective B-Mains.

If all of the Top 15 point drivers race their way into the big show in their respective B-Main races, the fourth-place finishers in each B-Main would transfer into the main event in the 23^rd and 24th starting spots.
