GREENVILLE’S WASHINGTON AND CLOLINGER NeSMITH CHEVROLET WRS TOP PROMOTERS

                DAWSONVILLE, GA – Greenville Speedway co-promoters Wesley Washington and James Clolinger were named the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Promoters of the Year for the second straight season at the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Annual Awards Banquet on January 21 at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame and Thunder Road USA Museum.

                Under the guidance of Washington and Clolinger, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS exemplified what it takes to make a NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series track a successful operation.

                “For the second straight year, Wesley Washington, James Clolinger and the staff at Greenville Speedway got high marks in all areas of operating a weekly track and working with the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series,” NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Director Roby Helm said.  “They were consistent and on time with their administrative duties, they averaged 20 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series late models each week, and put forth a good public relations effort that brought good crowds to the track.”

                Helm said Greenville Speedway was also the most prevalent NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series track to give back to their local community.

                “Greenville Speedway also hosted four NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring events in 2011, and at one of those events, they helped raise $8,000 for the local chapter of the American Cancer Society with the Ride For Life Auction,” Helm said.  “That amount gave Greenville Speedway and the local community a new record among series Ride For Life tracks for the second straight year.”

                Washington and Clolinger were unable to attend this year’s Awards Banquet, so the Promoter of the Year Award was accepted on their behalf by the Greenville Speedway NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model Champion Duke Palasini of Leland, MS.

                For the third straight season, Greenville Speedway will be a part of the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series.  Last season, three Greenville Speedway drivers placed in the Top 10 of the West Region point standings with Palasini finishing second, Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS taking fifth, and Bubba Harrison of Cleveland, MS finishing tenth.

Greenville Speedway will once again present four NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring events this season.  The races will be a two-day 75-lap $5,000-to-win race on April 6-7, a 40-lap $2,000-to-win race on July 20, a 50-lap $2,500-to-win race on July 21, and a two-day 60-lap $5,000-to-win race as a part of the 6^th Annual Gumbo Nationals on October 5-6.
