Points Fund that will pay back ten spots and award the National Champion
with a $10,000 prize.
The 20-track NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series lineup
represents six different states – Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia,
Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee - with eight new tracks joining the
series for the upcoming season.

East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL is also returning to
the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series for 2012 after a year’s
absence. Deep South Speedway,
411 Motor Speedway, 441 Speedway, and Pike County Speedway have also been
a part of the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS in years past.
These are the list of tracks the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing
Series has lined up as the calendar begins to turn from 2011 to 2012.
The 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series doesn’t begin for
another three months, and series officials are still negotiating with
several weekly tracks, hoping to add more to the list in the new year.
The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will feature one overall
National Championship for the first time since the series was developed
for weekly competitors in 2006. In
the past, the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS has been divided up into two and three
Regions. With one point fund,
the National Champion will receive more money, prestige and bragging
rights.
“The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will be one National
series with one point fund,” NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series
Founder and Director Mike Vaughn said.
“We’ve added more money to the point fund for 2012, and we’ve
given the drivers more choices on where they can compete to earn National
Weekly Racing Series points.” Vaughn said the popularity of the NeSmith
Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series is as high as it’s ever been, as both
track promoters and competitors are seeing the economic, technical, and
promotional benefits the series has to offer. “We’re seeing a trend of tracks that
have been with us in years past rethinking their programs in a tough
economy and returning to the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series for
2012,” Vaughn said. We have
already lined-up a great list of weekly dirt tracks, and we’re not done
yet. We’re looking to add
more tracks and bring the total up to 25 to 30 tracks for the 2012
season.”
NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Director Roby Helm said the
tracks and competitors involved in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing
Series will have a higher standard in the areas of technical and public
relations support that non-sanctioned weekly dirt tracks and their
competitors will be lacking. “The 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly
Racing Series tracks and their competitors have placed themselves at a
higher level with a higher standard of technical equality to level the
playing field,” Helm said. “Drivers
at these tracks will have a $20,000 point fund and track point fund to
compete for, and a higher level of notoriety through an aggressive public
relations effort.” Drivers will compete against drivers at
other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series tracks throughout the country
each weekend during a 27-week season from April 6, 2012 through October 7,
2012 through a points system. A
competitor’s best 14 weekly point totals will count towards their
National point total.
Drivers can compete in multiple races each week with their highest
single event point total counting for that week.
A driver can also earn up to 100 Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points
that will be added to their best 14 week point total.
A driver can earn as much as 800 points that represents 14 50-point
wins and 100 Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points.
Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points can be earned in two different
ways. A driver can earn 25
Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points by competing in four straight events at
a single track. A driver can
also earn 25 Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points by competing in a NeSmith
Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring event during the Weekly Racing
Series season.
