Dirt Track Racing School Teams up with Dan Breuer for Intro to Late Model Racing Class
CHARLOTTE,
NC
- The
2011 NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series Champion Dan Breuer will be
joining forces with Charlotte, NC’s Dirt Track Racing School to offer a
special, 2-day Intro to Dirt Late Model Racing class on February 17 &
18, 2012. This unique class will feature a mix of both classroom learning
and time behind the wheel of a dirt Late Model. “We
get students from all over the country that drive our racecars”, said
Dirt Track Racing School President Shawn Parker. “And lately, we’ve
had a lot of our students asking us to offer a class that includes more
than just driving. We’ve decided to team up with our friend, current
NeSmith Series Champ, Dan Breuer to offer an expanded Late Model class
where our students can learn about setup, maintenance & making changes
to the car at the track.” The
goal of the class is to give an overall introduction to Late Models for
those getting into the sport & offer insight to current drivers and
teams that are looking to improve their racing programs. Day one of the
Intro to Late Model Racing class will focus on setup, racecar maintenance
and at-track adjustments, while day two will consist of track time in a
Late Model at Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, NC. According
to Parker, “Dan comes out to the school to do private instruction when
his racing schedule permits, and we’ve talked for a long time about
working together to offer a formal program to help take some of the
mystery out of racing Late Models on dirt. With Dan clinching the NeSmith
Dirt Late Model Championship at East Bay Raceway Park a couple of weeks
ago, and the offseason upon us, we think it’s a great time to team up
and make it happen.” Breuer
has been racing Late Models for over 25 years, and has been involved in
racing since he was four years old. “I’ve been racing for a long time,
and it’s exciting to help racers getting into the sport or racers that
are trying to get more comfortable with driving & setting up their
cars”, said Breuer. “I’ve worked with the Dirt Track Racing School
off and on over the last few years, and I’m looking forward to doing
this 2-day setup & driving school.” Some
of the specific topics to be covered in the classroom portion of the Intro
to Late Model Racing class include 4-bar suspension, rear steer, roll
center, engine maintenance, chassis maintenance, tire choice, brake bias,
chassis adjustments, wheel spacing and driver feedback. The driving
portion of the class will cover overall driving technique, corner entry,
braking, driving line, consistency and changing track conditions. For
