NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 16 PREVIEW
CARTERSVILLE, GA – There are 11 races are on the NeSmith
Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 16 schedule of events with six races
in the East Region, and five races in the West Region.
William Thomas of Phenix City, AL opened Week 16 East Region
competition with his second win of the season on Tuesday night at East
Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL driving the J.W. Miller Land and
Timber Scorpion.
East Region Week 16 action resumes on Friday night at Penton
Raceway in Penton, AL, with Saturday night races set for East Alabama
Motor Speedway, Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL, Mountain Raceway Park
in Maryville, TN, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, who will be
presenting twin $1,000-to-win 25-lap races.
NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Week 16 action
begins Friday night at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR and
North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL.
Saturday night West Region events are scheduled for Central
Mississippi Speedway in Winona, MS, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS,
and Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, who will host a $1,000-to-win
event.
Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly
Racing Series West Region standings with 891 points, and has the
second-highest Event Point Average (EPA) of 47.88 among the top ten.
Stokes has seven wins and 14 top five finishes in 16 starts.
This week, Stokes will begin netting points by replacing his lowest
point total among his best 16 finishes with a higher point total. The EPA is calculated by subtracting any
bonus points earned by competing in NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model
Series National Touring events at 25 points per event up to 150 points,
and dividing by the number of races run up to 16.
A driver’s best 16 point nights, plus bonus points determine
their Regional point total. The defending and three-time NeSmith
Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of
Toomsuba, MS is second in the West Region standings with 808 points based
on his best 16 finishes, and has the third-highest EPA at 47.38.
Keeton has four wins, 13 top fives, and 15 top tens in 18 starts. Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS is third with
764 points in 15 starts, and has the eighth-highest EPA at 42.6.
Shay Knight of Jason Michau of Kilmichael, MS is sixth
in the West Region standings with 617 points in 14 starts, and has the
tenth-highest EPA among the top ten at 40.5.
Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL is seventh with 581 points,
including 150 bonus points, in nine starts and has the highest EPA among
the West Region top ten at 47.89. Cliff Williams of Star, MS is eighth with
559 points in ten starts, and has the fourth-highest EPA at 45.9.
Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS is ninth with 553 points in 11
starts, and has the fifth-highest EPA at 45.73.
Jamie Flannagan of Tuscumbia, AL rounds out the top ten in the West
Region standings with 542 points in 12 starts and has the sixth-highest
EPA at 45.17. Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL leads the
NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region standings with 866
points based on his best 16 finishes with the highest EPA among the top
ten in the East Region at 47.88. Edge
has three wins, 18 top five finishes, and 19 top ten finishes in 20
starts. Richie Stephens of Phenix City, AL is
second with 717 points in 15 starts and the sixth-highest EPA at 46.13.
Ryan King of Anniston, AL is third with 630 points in 12 starts and
the eighth-highest EPA at 44.17. Kevin
Maher of McDavid, FL is fourth in the East Region standings with 611
points in 12 starts and the third-highest EPA at 46.75. Josh Huss of Flomaton, AL and Dana Eiland
of Salem, Craig Scott of Newnan, GA and Larry
Harrod of Plains, GA are tied for the seventh spot in the East Region
standings with 579 points apiece. Scott
has 14 starts and the tenth-highest EPA among the East Region top ten
drivers at 41.36, and Harrod has nine starts, all of his 150 bonus points,
and the second-highest EPA at 47.67. Chris Griffin of Flomaton, AL is ninth
with 546 points in 12 starts and the seventh-highest EPA at 45.5.
Paul Walters of Valley, AL rounds out the top ten in the NeSmith
Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region standings with 539 points in 11
starts and the fourth-highest EPA among the top ten at 46.73. The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing
