GM PERFORMANCE PARTS TO SPONSOR NeSMITH CHEVROLET DLMS HARD CHARGER AWARD

               CARTERSVILLE , GA – GM Performance Parts will sponsor the Hard Charger Award at NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring events during the 2010 season.  GM Performance Parts will award $100 to the driver that improves his position the most from the start of the race to the end of the race.

               Drivers will also earn GM Performance Parts Hard Charger points at each NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Touring event, one point for each position improved from their starting position in the race to their finishing position in the race.  GM Performance Parts will pay an additional cash award to the driver with the most Hard Charger points at the end of the season.

               Matthew Turner of Dawsonville , GA leads the GM Performance Parts Hard Charger standings after the first 15 events of the 2010 season with 86 points.  Turner holds a 34-point lead over Marcus Minga of Shannon , MS and Eric Cooley of Fulton , MS , who each have 52 points.  Michael Blount of Sumrall, MS holds down the fourth spot with 48 points.

Chris McElhenney of Lake, MS and Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS are tied for the fifth spot, each with 43 points.  Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL is seventh with 39 points, and Larry Harrod of Plains, GA is eighth with 29 points.  Charlie Henderson of Cottondale, AL is ninth with 26 points, and Shan Smith of Dade City, FL rounds out the GM Performance Hard Charger standings with 24 points.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series statistics after the first 15 races of the 2010 season, Harrod has led the most laps with 93 laps at the front of the pack.  Ben Faircloth of Swainsboro, GA is second with 90 laps led, and Mike Boland of Cuba, AL is third with 69 laps led.  Cooley is fourth with 65 laps led and Randy Weaver of Crossville, TN is fifth with 57 laps led.

Cooley has completed every lap possible of 2010 season at 690.  Turner is second with 670 laps completed, Lee is third with 644 laps completed, McRee is fourth with 596 laps completed, and Henderson is fifth with 586 laps completed.

Lee leads the VP Racing Fuels Rookie of the Year point standings with 1,110 points, with Henderson 12 points back in second with 1,098 points.  Harrod is 26 points behind Henderson in third with 1,062 points, and Michael Blount of Sumrall, MS is fourth with 1,012 points.  Jay Burchfield of Columbus, MS rounds out the top five of the VP Racing Fuels Rookie of the Year point standings with 524 points.

VP Racing Fuels will award the top Rookie driver in the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National point standings at the end of the season with a $5,000 cash award as the 2010 VP Racing Fuels Rookie of the Year.

Four drivers have won two NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring events in 2010.  Weaver, Cooley, Boland, and Faircloth have each visited Victory Lane twice this season.  Four drivers have also earned two NeSmith Performance Parts Fast Qualifier Awards during the first 15 events of the 2010 season.  Henderson, Cliff Williams of Star, MS, Harrod and Faircloth each have two NeSmith Performance Parts Fast Qualifier Awards.

Trak-Star Race Cars, built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series 2010 National Chassis Manufacturers Challenge with 145 points.  Trak Star Race Cars has racked up four wins and four NeSmith Performance Parts Fast Qualifier Awards in the first 15 events of the 2010 season.

GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR is second with 124 points in the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series 2010 National Chassis Manufacturers Challenge standings with one win.  Rocket Chassis of Shinnston , WV is third with 123 points and one NeSmith Performance Parts Fast Time Award.

The defending and two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion Warrior Race Cars, built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is fourth with 82 points and a NeSmith Performance Parts Fast Qualifier Award.  TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN is fifth with 75 points and one win.
