NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 15 PREVIEW
CARTERSVILLE, GA – Three $1,000-to-win races will highlight Week
15 of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition, along with a
chance for eligible competitors to earn 25 Regional bonus points at the
NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring event on
Saturday night at Mountain Raceway Park in Maryville, TN.
The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region will host
seven events at five tracks in Week 15 action.
The first event was held at
Penton Raceway in Penton, AL will be in NeSmith Chevrolet East
Region action on Friday night, with East Region Saturday night events set
for East Alabama Motor Speedway, Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL, New
Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA, and at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga,
AL, who will host twin $1,000-to-win 25 lap main events.
The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region competition
will begin on Friday night with a trio of events at Batesville Motor
Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly
Racing Series East Region standings with 855 points based on his best 16
finishes with three wins, and 16 top five finishes in 18 starts driving
the Edge’s Gas Company Mastersbilt.
Edge’s two lowest point nights in his top 16 are a 41 and a 43.
Edge has the second-highest Event Point Average (EPA) among the top
ten in the East Region at 47.19. A
driver’s EPA is calculated by subtracting his bonus points earned and
dividing by 16, or the number of races he has competed in that are less
than 16. Edge has earned 100
bonus points by competing in four NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Touring
events, and is eligible to earn another 50 bonus points.
Richie Stephens of Phenix City, AL is second in the East Region
standings with 671 points that includes 25 bonus points.
Stephens has seven wins, ten top fives and 13 top tens in 14 starts
for the fifth-highest EPA among the top ten in the East Region standings
at 46.14 driving the Bennett Logging RMRC.
“Flyin’ Ryan” King of
Scott would win a tie-breaker, as he has three wins to Harrod’s
two wins, but Harrod has the highest EPA in the East Region at 47.67.
Scott has no bonus points, and can still earn the maximum allowed
at 150, while Harrod has earned all 150 of his available bonus points.
Scott has three wins, eight top fives and
12 top tens in 14 starts driving the Base Fuel
Kevin Maher of McDavid, FL is sixth in the East Region standings
with 566 points after three wins and ten top fives in 11 starts driving
the United Bank
Paul Walters of Valley, AL is eighth in the East Region standings
with 539 points, and has earned 50 bonus points.
Walters has one win, four top fives and 10 top tens in 11 starts
driving the Gary Davis Construction Warrior.
Walters has the seventh-highest EPA among the top ten in the East
Region standings at 44.45.
Dana Eiland of Salem, AL is ninth with 537 points, including 25
bonus points, driving the Andy’s Auto Parts
Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS has taken over the point lead in the
NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region from defending and
three-time West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS.
Stokes has 804 points that includes 125
bonus points after driving the TJC Mortgage/Maximum Signs and Graphics
Mastersbilt to seven wins and 13 top five finishes in 14 starts.
Stokes has the highest EPA among the top ten in the West Region
standings at 48.5 and can still earn full points in two more West Region
events. Keeton has 778 points that includes 50
bonus points based on four wins, 11 top fives, and 13 top tens in 16
starts driving the Boland Performance Trak-Star.
Keeton can still earn 100 more bonus points and he will begin
netting points, as his two lowest point nights are a 25 and a 41.
Keeton has the sixth-highest EPA in the West Region at 45.5. Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS is third in the
West Region standings with 764 points that includes 125 bonus points.
Lawson has three top fives and 12 top tens in 15 starts driving the
Lawson Construction Rocket and the ninth-highest EPA at 42.6.
Shay Knight of Chad McCool of Millport, AL is fifth in
the West Region standings with 569 points that includes 75 bonus points.
McCool has driven the M&M Logging Mastersbilt to one top five
and six top tens in 12 starts with the tenth-highest EPA at 41.17.
Jason Michau of Kilmichael, MS is sixth with 567 points that
includes 50 bonus points. Michau
has two top fives and eight top tens in 12 starts driving the Michau
Logging Warrior with the eighth-highest EPA at 43.08. Cliff Williams of Star, MS is seventh in
the West Region standings with 559 points that includes 100 bonus points.
Williams has driven the Ware Construction Trak-Star to three wins
and eight top fives in 10 starts, and has the fourth-highest EPA among the
West Region top ten drivers at 45.9. Mike Palasini of Leland, MS is eighth
with 553 points that includes 50 bonus points.
Palasini has the fifth-highest EPA at 45.73 after three wins, seven
top fives and eight top tens in 11 starts driving the Medicaid Planning
Specialists Trak-Star. Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL has the
second-highest EPA in the West Region at 47.63 despite being ninth in the
standings with 531 points. “J-Mac”
has accumulated all of his 150 bonus points, and has five wins, six top
fives, and seven top tens driving the Century Dedicated, Inc. Trak-Star. Randy Boyd of Marion, MS rounds out the
top ten in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region
standings with 466 points that includes 50 bonus points.
Boyd has driven the Coca-Cola of The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing
