NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 12 PREVIEW

               CARTERSVILLE, GA – NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series late model drivers will have some options in Week 12, as they can compete for big purses, and bonus points in the West and Regions this weekend.

               The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour will be in action with two races this weekend where NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series drivers can earn bonus points that will be added to their best 16 point night totals.  Drivers can earn up to 150 bonus points during the Weekly Racing Series season with 25 bonus points being awarded for each six events.

Penton Raceway in Penton, AL will have the $2,000-to-win Star and Stripes 40 this Friday night, and East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City , AL will host the $2,500-to-win Salute To The Armed Forces 50 on Saturday night.

There are also a pair of $1,000-to-win races on the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 12 schedule, one in each Region.  Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS will present a $1,000-to-win race on Saturday night in the West Region, and Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL is having a $1,000-to-win race in the East Region on Saturday night.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region action will begin on Friday night with races scheduled for Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg , MS and North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia , AL .  Saturday night West Region events are scheduled for A1 Raceway in Slidell, LA, Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

Other Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region events are set for Mountain Raceway Park in Maryville , TN and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga , AL .

As NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series drivers in the top ten of the Regional point standings work towards the 16 race mark, comparison of the point standings and the drivers’ Event Point Average (EPA) show some interesting facts in that even though a driver may not be at the top of the current point standings, their EPA shows them as a Regional Championship contender.

Three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS leads the West Region standings with 590 points in 13 starts, but he is fifth in the West Region EPA standings with an EPA of 45.38.  Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS is second in the West Region standings with 549 points in 13 starts, but has the ninth highest EPA among the top ten at 43.23. 

               Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS is third in the West Region standings with 542 points in nine starts that includes 100 bonus points.  Take away the bonus points and Stokes has the highest EPA in the West Region at 49.11.  Shay Knight of Ethelsville , AL is fourth with 476 points in nine starts, including 75 bonus points, and has the seventh highest EPA at 44.56.

               Justin McRee of Cuba, AL is fifth in the West Region standings with 437 points in seven starts that includes 100 bonus points, but he has the second highest EPA at 48.14.  Cliff Williams of Star, MS is sixth in the West Region standings with 410 points in eight starts, including 50 bonus points, and has the sixth highest EPA at 45.

               Jason Michau of Kilmichael, MS is seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region standings with 399 points in eight starts, including 50 bonus points, and has the eighth highest EPA at 43.63.  Chad McCool of Millport, AL is eighth in the West Region standings with 398 points in eight starts, including 75 bonus points, and the tenth highest EPA at 40.36.

               Jay Burchfield of Columbus, MS is ninth in the West Region standings with 382 points in six starts, including 100 bonus points, and Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS is tenth with 379 points in seven starts that includes 50 bonus points.  Burchfield and Palasini are tied with the third highest EPA in the West Region at 47.

               Nine out of the top ten of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region have yet to earn any bonus points.  Several of those drivers will be looking to earn their first bonus points of the season at NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring events this Friday night at Penton Raceway and this Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway.

               Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL leads the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region standings with 691 points in 15 events.  Edge has one more WRS event to earn full points to reach the 16 race mark.  After that, he will begin netting points by replacing his lowest point night with a higher one.  Edge has the fourth highest EPA in the East Region at 46.07.

               Richie Stephens of Phenix City, AL is second in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region standings with 551 points in 12 starts and has the fifth highest EPA at 45.92.  Craig Scott of Newnan, GA is third with 440 points in 11 starts and has the tenth highest East Region EPA at 40.

               Larry Harrod of Plains, GA is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region standings with 431 points in seven starts, including 100 bonus points, and has the second highest EPA at 47.29.  Kevin Maher of McDavid, FL is fifth with 430 points in nine starts, but has the highest EPA among the East Region top ten drivers at 47.78.

               Josh Huss of Flomaton, AL is sixth in the East Region standings with 416 points in nine starts for the third highest EPA in the East Region at 46.22.  Tod Darda is seventh with 413 points in nine starts and the sixth highest East Region EPA at 45.89.  Parrish Duncan of Newnan, GA is eighth in the East Region with 405 points in nine starts, and has the seventh highest EPA at 45.

               Ryan King of Anniston, AL is ninth in the East Region standings with 400 points, and has the eighth highest EPA among the East Region top ten drivers at 44.44.  Chris Griffin of Flomaton, AL rounds out the top ten of the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region top ten with 398 points, and the ninth highest EPA at 44.22.
