NeSMITH CHEVROLET DLMS LAUNCHES THE NeSMITH SUPER DIRT CAR SERIES

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series has launched the NeSmith Super Dirt Car Series, a five-state super late model series that is inclusive to several types of engines through a set of rules that creates a level playing field using weight and spoiler sizes. The series will pay the 2010 Champion $10,000 with an additional $5,000 available in bonus money.
The NeSmith Super Dirt Car Series is proposing separate series in five states with a separate point fund that guarantees a minimum of $1,000-to-win. Competitors may also compete in any state event for a regional point fund that will pay a minimum of $10,000-to-win and pay back ten places. State series will be in Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida.
The engines approved to power the dirt late model race cars include open motors, Spec engines, the GM Performance CT525 Spec Engine, and the GM Performance 604 and 602 Crate Engines.
Cars with open motors must weigh 2,300 pounds and use an eight-inch spoiler. Cars with a steel-block open motor must weigh 2,250 pounds and use an eight-inch spoiler. Cars with a SAS/SPUR Spec engine must weigh 2,250 pounds and can use a 12-inch spoiler. Cars with a GM Performance CT 525 Spec Engine, or a 604 and 602 Crate Engine must weight 2,200 pounds and can use a 12-inch spoiler.

FLOMATON SPEEDWAY RETURNS TO THE NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL has returned to the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series for the 2010 season. Long-time Flomaton Speedway racer and local community leader Freddie McCall Sr. of Century, FL is the new promoter of the track with a long-term lease on the ¼-mile clay oval.
Flomaton Speedway will be a part of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region, and returns to the series after being a part of the West Region in 2008. McCall brings many years of experience and integrity to Flomaton Speedway, and he has begun a major facelift of the facility which he helped build 48 years ago.
“I’ve been involved with Flomaton Speedway since the track was built in 1961 either racing cars here or selling tires, parts and fuel,” McCall said. “I want to bring honesty and integrity back to Flomaton Speedway because not only are the racers wanting that, but God is also looking at me.”
McCall has begun a major facelift of Flomaton Speedway that includes new rest rooms, bleachers, electrical system, guardrails, and a new clay surface. McCall is well known, not just to the racing community, but also to the residents of nearby Century, FL where he has served as the Mayor of the past two years, and served for many years before that as a City Commissioner.

THE NeSMITH CHEVROLET DLMS WELCOMES KYLIE NICOLE TURNER

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series welcomes Kylie Nicole Turner, who was born on Tuesday night at 7:49 p.m. Kylie crossed the scales at seven pounds, nine ounces and passed the post-birth technical inspection. Kylie is the daughter of Matthew and Brandi Turner of Dawsonville, GA.
Kylie’s daddy finished third in the 2009 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National point standings, and finished tenth last Saturday night in the series season opener at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS. Matthew also took the second spot in the super late model portion of the Winter Classic at Columbus Speedway.
THOMAS TAKES NeSMITH CHEVROLET DLMS SEASON OPENER AT COLUMBUS

COLUMBUS, MS – William Thomas of Phenix City, AL took the lead on lap 35 and went on to win the 40-lap NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring season opener on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway driving the J.W. Miller Land and Timber Scorpion. The victory was the fourth series career win for the third-generation driver.
Thomas started on the outside of the front row and battled for most of the event with early race leader polesitter Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN in the Miller Brothers Coal Warrior. Johnson held the bottom groove of the ¼-mile clay oval to keep the point for the first 34 laps of the race, while Thomas cruised the high side.
A lap 34 restart saw Thomas get a run on Johnson, and lead pair raced side-by-side for a lap until Thomas took the lead going down the backstretch on lap 35. Once at the head of the field, Thomas was able to drive on to the win.

SHELBY COUNTY SPEEDWAY ADDS TO NeSMITH CHEVROLET WRS EAST REGION GROWTH

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Shelby County Speedway in Wilsonville, AL has signed on with the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series for the 2010 season, and adds to the growing East Region. Shelby County Speedway has joined North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL, New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA, and 441 Speedway in Dublin, GA as new East Region tracks for 2010.
Along with the above mentioned tracks, Shelby County Speedway will also join returning NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region tracks Mountain Raceway Park in Maryville, TN, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, Penton Raceway in Penton, AL, and East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL.
Shelby County Speedway will operate on Saturday nights, and drivers in the track’s NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model Division will be competing for both a track point fund, and a Regional point fund based on their best 16 finishes during the 2010 season.

NeSMITH CHEVROLET DLMS SEASON OPENER SET FOR COLUMBUS, MS ON SATURDAY

COLUMBUS, MS – The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour will open its 2010 season on Saturday at “The Baddest Bullring In The South” Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS with the 40-lap $2,500-to-win Winter Classic. The defending NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Champion Eric Cooley of Fulton, MS will lead the entry list.
Cooley took his first career win at Columbus Speedway last September, on his way to becoming the youngest National Champion in the history of dirt late model racing at the age of 18. Cooley and the rest of the competitors entering Saturday’s event will all start with clean slate on the points page in battling for the $20,000 that goes to the 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS Champion.

NeSMITH CHEVROLET DLMS ANNOUNCES 25-RACE 2010 NATIONAL TOURING SCHEDULE

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series has announced its 25-race 2010 National Touring Schedule. The series will compete in 23 point races and two non-points races at 15 different tracks in five different states over 14 different weekends.
Six tracks in Mississippi will host 13 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring events over eight weekends, Alabama and Florida will each host four events, while Georgia and Tennessee will each host two events. The 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Tour opens on January 23 at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS with the 10th Annual Winter Classic.
Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS will host four NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National races in 2010 with the second race of the season on February 12-13 with the Winter Bash. The series returns to WMP events on May 14, May 15, and September 3-4 under the direction of NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS Promoter of the Year, RPM National Promoter of the Year finalist Rodney Wing.

NeSMITH CHEVROLET DLMS WHYNOT RACE POSTPONED UNTIL FEBRUARY 12-13

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring 50-lap $3,000-to-win event scheduled for this Friday and Saturday with the Winter Bash at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS has been postponed until February 12-13.
A weather forecast showing a high probability of rain on Saturday and on the rain date of Sunday forced series and track officials to postpone the 50-lap $3,000-to-win Winter Bash until February 12 and 13.
“It’s important for any promoter to begin their season on a good note financially, and Rodney Wing at Whynot Motorsports Park understands this, so we agreed this postponement, given the weather forecast, would be the best decision to make,” NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Founder and Director Mike Vaughn said. “The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series and Whynot Motorsports Park want to give both the fans and competitors the best possible show that we can.”

NeSMITH CHEVROLET SEASON OPENER THIS WEEKEND AT WHYNOT MOTORSPORTS PARK

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The 2010 season opener for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series will be this Friday and Saturday at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS with the Winter Bash highlighted by a 50-lap $3,000-to-win main event. The action begins on Thursday night with an open practice session with gates opening at 4 p.m., and practice from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
On Friday, the gates open at 4 p.m., with the drivers meeting scheduled for 7 p.m., with NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Qualifying and Heat Races to follow. The series season opener has always featured a large car count, so competitors are urged to get to the track early on Friday to fill out their 2010 registration paperwork. Registration will open at 3 p.m. on Friday.
The Saturday schedule for the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS at Whynot Motorsports Park will have the gates opening at 10 a.m., with the drivers meeting scheduled for 1 p.m. and racing to follow. The NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS will run B-Main races and the 50-lap $3,000-to-win main event on Saturday.
